Wahoo we smashed today’s mileage. The scenery was amazing. The 10 mile descent through the highlands has to be the highlight of the trip so far.

A great morning ride we smashed 60 miles in 3 hours. Some long hills followed by long descents. Then, during lunch the wind picked up and later the rain started. We cycled into a head wind all afternoon towards Glasgow. I enjoyed it though. The bikes were tested today as the roads are definitely rougher here. A couple of punctures today. I’m still yet to have one, hoping the trusty gatorskins hold it together for the whole ride.

We’ve crossed the border. Rain didn’t stop all day, everyone here is telling us it never stops. A quick one, we finished riding at 4.

A pretty good day. A couple of showers in the morning then the sun had his hat on till lunch at Settle. We then hit the Yorkshire Dales, which was great fun. An undulating terrain with what felt like a 3mile descent. Oh and they don’t have fences here just dry stone walls everywhere.

What a day. 8:30am to 7:30pm. Wet windy and cold with a few hailstorms on the side. We set off with our summer gear on as the sun was shinning after an hour the heavens opened an we all got soaked and pelted with hail stones. We slugged onwards to meet the van a couple of hours later so we could change. Cycling with a head wind all the way we eventually made it to Warrington where we were greeted with a great northern fry-up. Time for bed.

A very wet morning through Weston super mare towards Bristol. We soon came to a halt when Richard’s dropout snapped completely off (see my instagram pics). James and I cycled on to Bristol in even heavier rain to Evans cycles where we met the others. A new bike and some food and we were off. Up the A38 cruising at a steady 30mph with a lovely tailwind and a shining sun. Arriving at Worchester Fire station 6ish.

Another great day for cycling. We set off at 8am up some steep hills onto Dartmoor. There we had sheep and Ten Tourers to dodge. Lots of other cyclists about training. It was up and down all day. Thankfully its our shortest day. Met up with Dan for a short time, so thanks to him for abit of slipstreaming to make the journey easier. We got to Bridgwater at 4pm, an hour after a long lunch with the parents.

A massive thanks to our pals at For Goodness Shakes for the tasty recovery and energy products that have help us get up for training in the mornings and will keep us spinning our little, now much bigger, legs all the way across the largest island in europe.
